moshe-y

Born in the ancient city of Jerusalem in 1965 to two Blind Parents, his vision and awareness of images around him were working intensely from a very young age. For this reason, Moshé Y’s interest in all forms of art crystallized and evolved as a big part of his life. As early as the age of 10, he started his deep and unconditional interest in the visual arts, studying at the Israeli Museum of Art in Jerusalem amidst permanent archeological exhibits in the museum’s corridors, absorbing himself in the archeology of the ancient world. As a teenager, he studied with well-known Israeli artists including Shmuel Akerman and Jacques Soussana. At the age of 17, with the help of an Israeli scholarship to Europe, he was able to travel with a group of selected young talented artists to France and Germany to see and experience the great Masters’ Crafts in person. Now fully absorbed by the Art World, he went to London. Here, he delved into the Fine Arts, studying Lithography, Silk-screening, Etching, Pottery, Sculpting, and Drawing thus broadening his interests in all forms of creativity. After a year in London, he returned to Jerusalem, but with an insatiable need for creative exploration. He moved to Los Angeles, California in 1990s’ where he studied Photography and Digital Art. Then, once again, an opportunity arose for Moshe to broaden his horizons. In 2011 he relocated to South Florida to pursue his interests in the alchemy of Metals: studying Lost-Wax Bronze Casting at the University of Miami as well as Fiberglass Sculpting. While in Florida, he has been influenced by the extraordinary weather conditions. The tropical climates captured his imagination opening his eyes to the dramatic skies with unusual patterns, colors and textures. His creativity has directed his artwork towards sensational color palettes. With his large format painting skills, he produces fiery, abstract art on canvas. He enjoys sharing its content of his work with all of us, and takes pleasure in allowing us to create our own individual and personal interpretation of his work.
Today’s directions have attracted followers worldwide as he begins to share his work on social media. Moshé Y hopes to return to his beloved hometown, Jerusalem, to exhibit his artwork in the galleries he loved so much during his young formative years. He continues to share his exciting creative journey with all of us who show an understanding and affinity to his work.
